Family Session on the Roof

This family session was for the parents of Tasha, Jack and Brian, just before the last of their kids moved away from home. We met at their house and the parents left us to come up with something different... something creative. So, we were in the grass, on the fence, in the empty swimming pool, and finally- on top of the house!
After some of the family saw the photos we created, they agreed that the one on the roof would make the perfect father's day gift for dad. Here it is:

You may remember Brian, the one on the left in the top picture, from his senior pictures last year. He just graduated high school in Ellensburg.

And here is the family's new canvas portrait just after we hung it in their livingroom. The final print size was 48 inches long and 21 inches high.

BIRCH BAY FAMILY SESSION

This family session actually happened in April, but we had to keep the pictures a secret until a surprise wall portrait was presented as a gift in May. The family always gets together in Birch Bay, WA on Memorial Day weekend, and this year was going to be extra special since it was their mother’s 70th birthday party. So they thought, “Why not surprise our mother with a family portrait of us at Birch Bay?” So unbeknownst to their mother, we all met in Birch Bay back in April and photographed the family on the very beach that they spend time on every year as a family.

Well of course their mother was ecstatic and completely blown away by the 46" family wall portrait now hanging on her wall! Her daughter-in-law, Evelyn, wrote us an email to let us know how it went and said, “We had a fabulous time and Joan was so excited and overwhelmed with joy! Here is a picture for you to view [of the day she received it]. Thanks for everything!!!”

Maya & Conner

Our friend Erin stopped by today and her lovely children, Maya and Conner, gave me a great opportunity to try out some new lenses and camera that we picked up recently.

While Melissa and Erin were chatting I ran around the yard with the kids. Maya chased me with a dandelion and Conner climbed on things. :) Thanks for the practice you guys!

Power Family

It's always great when we have the opportunity to create a family portrait. The Power family traveled from California and the Seattle area to Pasco, WA where Paul and Mary (the parents) live. They hadn't gotten together for a family portrait in over 10 years, so this was a special occasion. They chose Chiawana Park on the Columbia River which was a great spot to include all of the families' dogs.

Stacey, Anne, Toby, Jessie and Caleb

We met Steve and Priscilla through a local Ellensburg business group. And these are their five children. We traveled far and deep through the snowy hills of Thorp to create this portrait. Our goal was a 24" canvas wall portrait for their home.

And this is Harley

Steve and Priscilla run an amazing wall finishing business: Mad Studios. If you have been around Ellensburg much you've probably seen some of their unique walls in various business lobbies and such. Check out their website: www.madstudiosdesign.com

Misa

Commentary by Ross
This one's for fun... This is Misa, Melissa's sister's niece.

As you can see she loves to be in front of the camera as much as she likes to fly :)

Arlein

Commentary by Melissa
Arlein commissioned us to create a portrait of her grandkids. After an in-home consultation, it was decided that the portrait would be displayed over a buffet table in her kitchen, so she could enjoy the image of her family all day. Arlein wanted the portraits to be taken on her property. We had to do the shoot early in the morning, and with a lot of Red Bulls, candy bars, and doughnuts the three grandchildren were ready to model on cue.
Here I am in this first photo with Arlein's new wall decor.

The Sherwin’s

Michael Sherwin was Ross’s photography professor at Central Washington University. We were honored that he chose us to take his family portraits. Michael and his wife, Heidi, chose Irene Rhinehart park to showcase the newest addition to their family: 6 month old baby girl, Susie. And we can’t forget Bridger, the family dog. Between Ross’s dog barks and my “peek a boo” routine, we got Bridger and Susie to smile at the same time. She was one of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen. We would’ve loved to photograph her more, but the family recently moved to West Virginia. Check out Michael Sherwin’s art website: www.michaelsherwin.com

Darrell and Vanessa

This session had two goals: capture Sam (the family dog), and create a main wall portrait for their living room. After two long evenings at Columbia Park in Kennewick, WA, we had accomplished both goals.

This first portrait is being created as a 120" (10 feet) canvas wall portrait as I type.

You may be trying to guess... Which car is hers? Which car is his?...

The '67 camaro is Hers.

The Porsche Boxter is His. :)

It was this photo they chose of Sam. Now he will forever be in the den with his 46" canvas portrait.

Ryan, Summer and Caiden

We had the privilege of capturing the cutest family: Ryan, Summer and Caiden. We waited for the sunset and the natural light was amazing. Well, plus the big softbox light I (Melissa) was pointing at them =P Caiden was so cute running around the park with his football.

Cute Kids!

I had to post a few wedding candid photos of cute little kids just because :)
These were taken at different weddings in July.
